![]() In the end, this maybe one of the shortest production runs of any Sprint or Nextel Phone. The Sprint side of the sales force will deny (as directed from marketing) the existence or say that they are unavailable and steer you towards the i365. This does not necessarily mean you cannot get one, but you will need to find a true “Nextel” rep to see if he can push a special order for you, but I do believe this is a long shot. Many units already produced are earmarked for DHS, even though the unit doesn’t have a camera, something they really wanted. But for what it’s worth, the initial stage of commercial release will include Southern Linc (non-nextel compatible) and companies currently running Harmony. The have reduced the production runs and diverted scarce financial resources towards the next generation handsets. I saw no appreciable difference in battery drain either.įrom what I understand, after a strong lobbing effort against it by national marketing, Sprint has no intention of releasing this unit into its main distribution channels at all. I have gotten used to it and missed it when I did have it shut down for a day. I'm sure, in a few, peeps in our software forum will be able to make the change for you if it bothers you that bad. The back light for the external display only dims and can not be completely shut off from within the phone OS. Does anyone know if that's normal, or if there's a way to change that setting? I've checked the backlight settings and have gone through every menu option to no avail. It goes from bright to very dim, but never completely off. One annoying thing about the phone is that the external backlight never completely goes off. There are quite a few Boost i776 phones out there, but I have still only seen one seller on eBay selling the Nextel-branded phones. Yeah, so is the i576, but I have yet to find one for sale other than the Spring website until today. There's also an article over at Engadget Mobile () sporting a Target-themed Boost version of the i776.ĮDIT: Also, according to CNET (), the i576 will launch on October 19. What happened to the glory days when people used to paste pages from the Playbook in here? We're supposed to see four new iDEN sets within the next three months - surely someone out there not too afraid of being canned can share some launch dates with us?You mean this article ()? Checked - doesn't look like they've launched it yet, whichever one it was. In other news, I saw a Boost ad on the side of a bus this morning showing off either an i576 or i776 with a custom Boost white paint job and DC chin lights aglow. Too lazy to find the link right now - might be somewhere a few pages back in this ginormous thread. The i776 was quoted in that BoyGeniusReport article from a few months back on Sprint's iDEN roadmap. ![]()
